A Whisper, a Confession, a Thank you

, ,

I could write a letter
to the poets of the world,
and oh,
the things that I could say!
There would be no holding back.
After all,
how do you hide from a poet?
I would tell them of the times they
brought me back to life, after
breaking my heart.
I would tell them that reading
their words was like looking
into a mirror and gazing into a well
of all of the beautiful hearts in this world,
including my own.
I would whisper of the silent tears
that fell, to learn that I wasn’t alone.
I would sing of the celebrations I had,
when they took my hand and led me to joy.
I would bow my head in thanks,
sharing my gratitude for
the gift they gave to the world,
and to me.
I would confess,
the little girl in me dreams
of growing up and
becoming one such as you.
